Discussion over the most controversial health reforms of Health Secretary Andrew Lansley has taken again an ugly turn as the medical professionals have asked the Health Secretary to scrap the reform before it is too late. The MPs and doctors are of the view that the controversial reforms would severely damage the working of the NHS.
The representatives of the Royal College of GPs have characterized the reform as an expensive and damaging affair. There are only a few of the medical professionals who believe that the reforms are capable of bringing in significant changes in the working of the NHS.
The Chairwoman of the Royal College of GPs, Dr. Clare Gerada was reported as saying, "This Bill is a burden, it makes no sense. It will result in a very expensive health service that will never match the health service we have at the moment".
The government did claim of having the support of GPs for the reforms, but this particular has thing been overruled by Ms. Gerada. She informed that 90% of the medical professionals are asking for scraping the controversial reform.
With the pursuit of winning the support of the medical professionals, amendments were introduced in the Health and Social Care Bill. Still, the amendments failed to win the support of the majority. The medical professionals have been calling for the scrapping of the controversial reform.
The medical professionals are of the view that if the reforms are implemented then the care of the patients would be adversely affected. It has been informed that the reforms would bestow a huge responsibility of drafting the NHS budget to the GPs. A total number of 137 amendments have been made in the bill but still it has not been able to appeal the medical professionals.
