The increasing cases of cancer have made the cancer charities and campaigners worrisome. They are urging the government to reduce the level of fat, salt and sugar in the food products so that a control over the cancer cases could be established.
The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) has estimated that by 2030, the cancer cases in Britain would rise to 400,000. It means that ever year, about 400,000 patients would be diagnosed with cancer in the UK.
If the cancer cases are allowed to rise at swift pace then in the coming years the UK would be counted among countries with highest cancer rates. The WCRF has pointed out factors like unhealthy lifestyle and aging for causing hike in the cancer rate.
Obesity is also one of the main reasons behind cancer. Dr. Kate Allen from the World Cancer Research Fund said, "Measures to tackle the fat, sugar and salt content of food and drinks and to improve the opportunities for physical activity are the type of developments we need to cut these predictions of future cancer cases".
It has been recommended that the consumption of salt should be reduced to 5g which is at present 8g. These small changes can prove helpful in reducing the chances of a person being affected with cancer. Besides, exercise should also be included in one's daily life.
It has been founded that the cases of obesity are higher in the wealthy countries. Therefore, efforts are required to be made towards improving the lifestyle of the people so that they are not affected with obesity, which is again one of the causes of cancer.
The increasing cases of cancer can cause hindrance in the development of a country. Moreover, increased cancer cases can also prove burden for the health care sectors, which are at present going through financial difficulties.
