It has been informed that when a mother with diabetes gives birth, her chances of succumbing to heart diseases and spina bifida increases.

The type 1 diabetes is caused in the childhood while type 2 diabetes develops because of fragmented lifestyle. Poor eating habits and sedentary lifestyle are few of the factors behind triggering type- 2 diabetes.
It has been informed that 19 out of 1,000 women, without diabetes, are at the risk of developing birth defects. However, 72 out of 1,000 diabetic women are prone of having problems during the delivery time.
Dr. Ruth Bell from Newcastle University was reported of saying, “It is a problem when the pregnancy is not intended or when people are not aware they need to talk to their doctors before pregnancy… with expert help before and during pregnancy, most women with diabetes will have a healthy baby”.
Diabetes UK, a charity, is of the view that women should be made aware of the risks of having baby while being affected with diabetes. Just a little help of medical experts can do wonders for the expecting mums. Moreover, diabetic women should do their best to prevent unwanted pregnancy.
