It has been found through a recent report that a girl of age 9, who developed a cancerous cell, has been surviving successfully after getting her surgery done. The report has revealed that Alannah Shevenell has got six-organ transplants and has recovered successfully after the same.
As per the report, the girl had developed a tumour, which had been growing since the year 2008 and had attacked her different body organs. It has been found that the tumour had choked six organs of her body, including liver, pancreas, oesophagus, stomach, spleen and small intestine.
The report finds that the girl, from the northeastern state of Maine, was admitted to Massachusetts at Children's Hospital in Boston when her condition became critical. The aggressive cancer had damaged her six organs and she could not live for long without the surgery that she has received recently.
It has been found that the young girl had to stay in hospital for last 100 days in order to receive the surgery treatment for a rare type of cancer. Her grandmother stayed with her all the time and supported her so as to get her well soon. The hospital staff told that Alannah has made a significant recovery after transplant of six organs.
The surgery was a challenge as it was for the first time that six organ transplants were done at the same time, in the country. Also, transplant of an esophagus was for the first time done. "When all other treatments had failed, Heung Bae Kim, MD, director of Children's Pediatric Transplant Center suggested a multivisceral transplant that would remove Alannah's tumour and replace the six organs that had been damaged by its presence", said the hospital heads.
Alannah is perfectly well and can perform any activity, says the report.
