Sugar Lovers Need to be Aware, Warn Researchers

Sugar consumption is hazardous to health just like alcohol and tobacco, says a team of researchers from the University of California, San Francisco. The team recently analyzed and announced that sugar needs to be controlled by the federal government.

It is being said that sugar is no less than alcohol or tobacco, as it causes the increase in risk of obesity and other diseases as equally as alcohol and tobacco. The study into the matter made the researchers to conclude that sugar, which is widely used in drinks, cookies as well as several other recipes, is far more harmful than previously thought.

Researchers in San Francisco had also found in a previous study that McDonald's Happy Meals and goldfish were not healthy to eat and they banned these foods in the nation. Along with this, they also found various other chows, which are usually found pleasant and delicious by people, as unhealthy and cause of various diseases as well, thereby putting restrictions on them.

The nation is about to experience a ban on another natural substance, sugar, which is found to kill many gradually. It has been unveiled by the report that people across the country might face a ban on millennia-old sweetener this time. Though, sugar has been found to be the reason of obesity and diabetes as well as some other ailments. A possible contraction may be seen in licensing requirements on vending machines together with snack bars, which promote sale of high-sugar products in schools and workplaces.

In addition, special taxes might be levied on sugar-rich products along with controlling access so as to restrict the demand of these that would thus, reduce number of plague victims. "We're not advocating a major imposition of the government into people's lives. We're talking about gentle ways to make sugar consumption slightly less convenient, thereby moving people away from the concentrated dose”, says Laura Schmidt, a researcher.
