In a recent report, it has been revealed that the there has been rise in the ageing population of the country. This ageing population is not one of those healthy elderly people; they are actually ailing with bouts of illnesses.
It was recently revealed that the growing ill ageing population is starting to have adverse affects on the Medicare facilities in the country.
It was revealed by the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences that there is need for better medical facilities to be available for the elderly in the time to come. There is need to strike a healthy balance between the healthcare facilities for the young as well as the old, and they need to be given the right to avail medical services at affordable rates too.
There is need for positive changes to be made in the health structure of the country. Help should reach the ones in need, and they shouldn’t have to wait for months or have to pay oodles of money for it. There is need for better health facilities for the elderly because they are the ones suffering at the hands of these new reforms which have been under scrutiny for years and years.
“When patients are coming to the hospital, they are sicker and in need of those critical care units. Those are the places where we are in need of more room but cannot expand. That is where the inpatient need is”, said ECM Chief Nursing Officer Tiffany Keys, about a new facility which is going to be built for the care of the people in need for help. It’s a matter of time to see whether these initiatives will prove to be helpful in the time to come.
