Lap-Band Surgery Halted At Two Outpatient Clinics

It has been reported that surgery of Lap-Band has been halted for a while by two of the Los Angeles-area outpatient clinics as review over the procedure of the surgery is being carried out. The two clinics which have stopped the performing the Lap-Band surgeries have been identified as New Life Surgery Center and Valley Surgical Center located in Beverly Hills and West Hills respectively.

The Lap-Band surgery discourages people from indulging into the habit of overeating. In the past few years, the Federal Government has been eyeing the advertisement firms which have been using unfair means to lure people towards the Lap-Band surgery.

It was alleged by the Federal Government that the New Life Surgery Center and Valley Surgical Center were jeopardizing the health of the people by allowing them to go for Lap-Band surgery without informing them about its adverse outcomes.

While reacting against the allegations of the Federal Government, the two centers echoed, “Recent allegations question the safety of the Lap-Band procedures at two centers. While we strongly believe these allegations paint a false picture of the care provided overall and discount our capabilities and success rate, we have stopped scheduling new Lap-Band surgeries at those centers”.

The two centers also stated that the allegations imposed by the Federal Government are baseless. It has been unveiled that about 5 patients of California have succumbed to death after going through the Lap-Band surgery.

The Food and Drug Administration has also alleged that information about the side effects of having Lap-Band surgery isn’t provided to the people by the clinics before allowing them to go through the Lap-Band surgery. Lap- Band surgery has been severely criticized not only by the health advocates but also by political leaders.
