Organ donation is one of the most sensitive and controversial issues in the field of medicine. There are so many people in the world, who feel donating organs is disrespecting the human body. The other, are of the view that this is the noblest deed a person could ever do.
For the person who receives the transplant, it’s like a gift he/ she can ever tank eno9ugh for. There are so many people dying in the world, every single day, because they dint receive organs on time. There is need for more awareness to be spread about the need for donating organs.
This is the best possible way of honoring a deceased person, by giving away his/ her organs, of course with their consent only.
The hitch is that families and friends of the deceased, seldom allow these organs to be donated, because it makes them fell, their loved one is being disrespected.
This makes things really difficult for the suffering patient, because he has been told he’s soon going to get an organ, but the family doesn’t allow, and the patient is left helpless.
"There is clear evidence that the time delays, as well as poor-quality information and communication caused by a paper record, are hindrances to organ donation consent," "Poor information management reduces organ utilization and ultimately leads to fewer transplants”, said Holly Northam assistant professor of nursing and midwifery at the University of Canberra,
There is need for more awareness programs to be launched to make people understand how really important it is these days, to promise their organs to be donated after they have passed away. There are thousands in the world, waiting for transplants for days and moths and years. There is need for helping these people by donating organs and saving their lives.
