Students at the Pennsylvania-based Shippensburg University will now reportedly hold a legal right of easily accessing the so-called “Plan B”, also known as morning-after pill, with all the credit going to the revolutionary and one-off vending machine that has been installed in the health center of the school.
Earlier, some disputes came into sight as a large number of medical officials as well as regulatory bodies were claiming that the system of providing morning-after pills with so liberty to school kids is going to do no good for the society. But later, the officials from Shippensburg University verified that all the students living in the campus are at least 17 years of age, an age which is considered legal for use and purchase of such pills.
It is fairly known that morning-after pills are very effective in terms of avoiding the possibilities of unwanted and unintended pregnancy, provided they are taken just-in-time after few hours of having a sexual intercourse.
Reports have claimed that the vending machine installed at Shippensburg University, which is based in south central region of Pennsylvania, provides easy access to items like morning-after pills, pregnancy tests, decongestants as well as condoms.
While expressing his viewpoints regarding the application and effectiveness of the vending machine installed in the campus, Peter Gigliotti, a Spokesperson for the University said in a recently released statement: “In addition, no one can walk in off the street and go into the health center. Students proceed to a check-in desk located in the lobby and after checking in are granted access to the treatment area”. The pills can be accessed by inserting $25 in the vending machine.
The student association of the university earlier urged for the installation of a vending machine following reports of a survey wherein it was found that in excess of 85% of students were in favor of having such a machine by which they can fend off the possibilities of falling prey to unintended pregnancy.
