Women Must Take Good Care of Their Heart

While there is no dearth of health concerns for women, it is being believed that women are succumbing to heart disease more as compared to men. With as many as women getting affected by heart concerns, it is required that more awareness regarding the same is being spread.

Among those who got shock of their lives when told about their heart condition is the 65-year-old Mary Brooks. She would have never imagined that she would ever have to hear that she has coronary artery disease. It was around 2 years ago when the lady was rushed to the emergency room at Mercy Hospital in Coconut Grove after she saw her feet swollen.

The lady was diabetic, but she never thought that she would ever have to face the deadly news. "I never thought about it. You read about it, you see it on TV, but you say, not me?"Brooks added.

She was under the impression that heart disease is more or less a male disease, but her perception has now been broken. Even, a recent report from the American Heart Association has affirmed that women are most vulnerable to heart disease as compared to men.

The fact that women are more under the risk of heart disease is forcing public drives from the American Heart Association which is expected to make some much needed changes. It is necessary that women pay heed to symptoms like shortness of breath, sweating, nausea and take the needed care.

Women have the inherent tendency of overlooking their health and this is making things more difficult at their end. There is a need for women to take timely action so that they are being taken care of well.

With the rising concern for cardiovascular disease, it has become all the more imperative that women are being attended well not just by doctors but by their family.
