Auckland International Airport Keeps a Tab over Flu Activity

The fear of flu has made the authorities of the Auckland International Airport alert when a flight carrying passengers from Japan landed in Auckland. Air New Zealand was filled with 274 passengers who boarded the flight from Tokyo.

Among the passengers there were some who exhibited flu like symptoms. Those passengers were asked to go through flu tests. Japan is said to be going through a worse epidemic of flu. Millions of people are said to have been affected by it in Japan.

As the passengers were carrying flu like symptoms, it became necessary for the authorities to conduct tests on them so that safety of others could be ensured. It has been reported that a group of Japanese students caught the eyes of the authority as they were having flu like symptoms.

The Japanese students were 60 in total. All the students were tested for the flu but none was carrying the potential flu virus which could cause an outbreak in Auckland. It has been informed that as the weather is cold in Japan many passengers were suffering from seasonal cold.

The relatives of passengers travelling through the flight have complained that the authorities didn't provide them with adequate information as to what was happening at the airport. There are some who believe that the authorities have overreacted by forcing the passengers to go through flu test. Some of the passengers were even asked to go through the extensive flu tests.

The Health Minister, Tony Ryall, was reported as saying, "We've been briefed on the situation, and advised that it is Japan's flu season, and there are no reports of new strains of flu there. We're keeping a watching brief but have been told there's nothing to suggest it's anything other than seasonal flu".
