Wheal Agar Ward of Royal Cornwall Hospital Closed Down For Investigation

It has been reported that Wheal Agar ward of Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust has been temporarily closed down. An investigation is being carried out at the ward over the care of a particular patient.

The ward in discussion provides care to elders and has a total number of 24 beds. Such an action has never taken place over the ward. However, it is believed that investigators have launched an investigation over the ward as it was found that care of an elder patient was not being provided effectively.

The identity of the patient, for whom the investigation was called for, has not been disclosed. The staff working at the ward has been suspended for a while. Unless and until the investigation is over no new patient would be admitted to the ward. However, the patients would be offered care at the hospital.

A spokesperson of the hospital said, “We can confirm staff has been suspended - this is a neutral act. The ward has been temporarily closed and any new patients will continue to be able to receive care and treatment within our hospitals services”.

Following the temporary closure of the ward the health campaigners expressed their concern over the move. They are worried that the care of the patients would be affected by the move as the hospital is already facing shortage of beds.

It has informed that the daughter of David and Samantha Cameron, Florence, was born at the same hospital where the closure of a ward has been announced. The health campaigners are concerned that the ward might be closed down for ever. However, the hospital’s spokesperson has denied it. Although the ward has been closed down temporarily, it has not been informed as to why such action was taken against the hospital.
