In a recent report, it has been revealed that there have been wards closed in the hospitals situated in South West Wales because of the Norovirus and diarrhea scare spreading in the vicinity. There have been four wards closed at the Morriston Hospital situated in Swansea. There has been a ward closed at the Gorseinon Hospital as well.
It was revealed by the Hywel Dda Health Board that the situation of the cases of diarrhea and Norovirus have recently seemed to worsen at the Pembrokeshire, Withybush and the Haverfordwest hospitals. The winter vomiting bug has seemed to spread far and wide and this has caused a lot of problem for the people of the vicinity.
“We are doing all that we can to ensure emergency services are accessible and this is being helped by staff working additional shifts. We request that any staff that might be available to work, to please contact their line manager”, said the Health Board.
There is dire need for the people of the vicinity to understand how they are putting themselves at the risk of keeping in bed for up to weeks, by not taking proper precautions against the infection. There is need for more and more vaccine programs to be launched so that people can stay safe from the onset of the disease in the time to come.
It is essential that the visiting time at the hospitals are kept bare minimum and people prefer going to other hospitals in the area, rather than the ones with closed wards, to avoid further infection chances. It is essential that the health department follows effective steps to safeguard the health of the other patients present in these hospitals.
There is need for helping people by working a little extra time, while helping in curing the patients.
