Liberal Leader Dr. David Swann is visibly outraged at the double digit pay hike that Alberta Health Services board executives are in for. Considering, it has only been a year since this board started functioning. He'd much rather have more doctors, nurses and much needed beds in the hospital.
"Albertans learned (yesterday) that Alberta Health Services Board executives are receiving raises of up to 25% at a time when communities are losing obstetrics services and hospitals can't create new beds," said Swann.
"These board members are taking home so-called honorariums that are worth more than most people make in a year at full-time jobs. And we're asking seniors to pay more out of pocket for prescription drugs?"
Well, no one is blaming Swann for the outburst because this idea does seem preposterous taking into account the fact that Alberta Health Services Board faces a deficit of $1.3 billion.
