CVS Caremark Expands Google Deal
Google, CVS Caremark

CVS Caremark Corp., a drugstore chain that owns Longs Drug Stores, a local business has expanded an online medical records deal with giant Google Inc., which will allow its customers to download prescription information and history into their online Google medical records.

Google's medical record project and other such programmes are working to make it easier for pharmacists, doctors and patients to keep track of previously stored information, mostly in folders in doctor's offices and other places.

CVS, which has about 6,900 stores and bought Longs after fending off rival Walgreen Co. last year says on its web site: 'Google Health puts you in charge of your health information. You always control how it's used.'

With CVS adding to the list of pharmacies that will provide access to Google Health, more than 100-million people will be able to access their prescription history online, including importing it to a Google Health Account, which is not only central, but also secure.

Google Health already works with pharmacies, such as, Walgreens and Drug Fair, including pharmacy benefit managers Medco and CVS Caremark, and you can also join just by checking if your pharmacy is connected to Google Health, and then importing data into your account.
