By enhancing the functionality of its two features - the mobile Gmail service and Google Calendar - using hard line caching and new browser technologies, like HTML5 and Gears, Google Tuesday boosted up the Apple iPhone and Android browsers.
According to the blog of the Mountain View, Calif.-based search engine giant, the new architecture is aimed at making the mobile browsing experience more rapid, more durable in the face of carrier network snafus, and more similar to the full-screen experience on a laptop or desktop.
The blog says that with the user interface batch actions would become easier and more consistent in performance. Google Mobile engineer, Joanne McKinley said that the revamped Gmail facilitates faster performance of tasks like opening e-mails, searching, and navigating.
On another company blog, Jyri Engestrom, Google Mobile's Product manager said that the improvements in the Google Calendar would allow users to adjust details of events from their mobile browsers, and can modify attendance status, as well as add or remove guests. It supports iPhone OS 2.2.1 and all Android-powered phones.
Talking about the advantages of the new improvements, Joanne McKinley said: "The full impact of this new architecture isn't visible yet, but it will enable us to significantly improve performance and quickly roll out new features in the near future!"
