The Trauma Behind Tina Fey’s Scar

The Trauma Behind Tina Fey’s ScarWinner of multiple Emmy awards for '30 Rock', famous for her Sarah Palin impersonations on 'Saturday Night Live' winning acclaim from even the Palin camp, comedian Tina Fey is a name and face everyone has begun to recognise. However, the thrust into the spotlight has served to highlight the thin scar on the left side of her face, a scar, Fey tells Vanity Fair in her interview that appears in its January issue, is the result of a childhood attack.

A 5-year old Fey was playing in the front yard of her Upper Darby, Penn. home, when out of the blue a stranger violently attacked her. Her husband Jeff Richmond explains: 'It was in, like, the front yard of her house, and somebody who just came up, and she just thought somebody marked her with a pen.'

A traumatizing incident, however, Fey dealt well with the trauma, a confident little kid, who was completely able to forget the scar, until she went on camera, when she prefers to show her right side to it, rather than show her scar on the left of her face.

The 5-ft. 4-in. actress also reveals a makeover and a stint on Weight Watchers saw her losing 30-lbs, when she started out at 'Saturday Night Live' (SNL). Says Richmond of his wife's pre-fame Chicago days: 'She was quite round, but in a lovely, turn-of-the-century kind of round - that beautiful, Rubenesque kind of beauty.' But, half-Russian, half-Greek, knows what her greatest assets are, saying: 'Because of the Greek-girl thing, I have, like, boobs and butt,. As a result, I only have two speeds - either matronly or a little too slutty. I have to be steered away from cheetah print.'

While, addressing the criticism of her spoof of vice-presidential candidate Palin, she says she found it sexist, when Palin was portrayed as a fragile woman, which made her mad, as the truth is Palin is a very strong woman. She also found Dan Aykroyd's Richard Nixon and Will Ferrell's George Bush portrayal 'awful mean'.

Currently, Fey is portrays Liz Lemon, head writer of a fictional sketch comedy series on '30 Rock', and her big-screen writing and acting credits include 'Baby Mama' and 'Mean Girls'. She has also signed a $5-million book deal.
