The Bluetooth 3.0 specification, which is the refurbished version of the universal wireless connectivity modus operandi of innumerable devices, is reportedly all-set for its scheduled April 21 launch, though official intimation is still awaited.
The device is being prepped up for its third iteration, which will make use of the 802.11 technology - sans the WiFi network requirement - for substantially-bettered file transfer speeds to facilitate the quick transfer of much larger files. Once a file-transfer has been done with, the two compatible Bluetooth modules provide for a switch back to the standard 3.0Mbps rate for lesser consumption of power and bandwidth.
With mobile devices virtually evolving as entertainment centers, the speed upgrading would prove beneficial for transferring video and music collections. In fact, the key focus of Bluetooth 3.0 spec will be on improving home entertainment practice, which the SIG presently considers a market that has not been explored to its potential.
According to claims, the new specification would enhance the transfer speeds to such an extent that transporting music libraries, DVDs would take only "a few seconds," thereby improving upon the considerably limited raw data transfer rates of the Bluetooth.
In addition to speed, the other noteworthy improvement made to Bluetooth is the much-hyped "Enhanced Power Control", which implies changes in connectivity, aimed at preventing severed connections between two Bluetooth devices.
