On Thursday, April 17, 2009, T-Mobile USA launched its new version of its Sidekick LX, with enhanced hardware and well-integrated social-networking features. The Sidekick LX 2009 turns up MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter status updates and notifications directly into the application being used.
The other noteworthy specs of the sleek, Sharp-manufactured new Sidekick LX include 3G; Flash video support; A2DP-supported Bluetooth 2.0; built-in GPS with Microsoft Live Search, Windows Live, and Yahoo instant messaging clients.
With measurements like 5.1-inch width, 2.3-inch height; 0.6-inch thickness and 6-ounce weight, the Sidekick LX 2009 is presently the thinnest Sidekick. The smartphone has a 3.2-inch WVGA display with an 854x480-pixel resolution, and a full QWERTY keyboard.
The superior quality; sharp and bright screen; excellent spacing between the buttons; a 3.5mm headphone jack; a microSD expansion slot, over and above the 1 GB microSD card - all these features already give the new Sidekick a leading edge.
The smartphone priced $199 with a two-year contract, would be available in two colors - carbon and orchid - and, like its predecessor, allows users to create custom shells, with the added option of laser etching the case!
For orders placed by April 30, the smartphone will be delivered by May 12; and for orders thereafter, the delivery will be given within seven business days.
