Over 640,000 Facebook users participate in ‘terms of service’ poll!

The nearly 200 million Facebook users had been invited to a people's poll about whether the February-initiated and subsequently-withdrawn changes in its 'Terms of Service' should be reinforced or not. The users were required to go to the poll page and mark their answer as 'Yes' or 'No.'

Though the social networking site had sought the opinion of its "active" users, about the changes, there has been no specification from either the company or any source as to what difference such an opinion poll will actually make on the Facebook decision.

The deadline given for the voting, for either the existing terms of use or a revised set of documents, was Thursday afternoon. It is estimated that over 640,000 Facebook users had cast ballots.

Facebook had clearly mentioned that the voting will hold ground, and the decision would be binding, only if at least 30 percent - nearly 60 million - of "active" users of the site would participate.

With the voting being done and over with, Facebook spokesman Barry Schnitt says that the company intends announcing its poll results and the "next steps" to be taken, on Friday.
