Lenovo announces its new ‘thinner and lighter’ IdeaPad S10-2 netbook

The newest model of Lenevo's IdeaPad S10 netbook line - the 'thinner and lighter' S10-2 - was announced by the company on Monday.

The new 0.71-inch thick S10-2 netbook, weighing 2.2 pounds at its least, boasts of a 90 percent bigger keyboard, a multitouch touchpad, the VeriFace face-recognition software, and the OneKey Rescue System for data recovery. The new netbook will be powered by an Intel-based Atom N270 processor and will run the Windows XP Operating System.

Going by the Lenevo announcement, the S10-2 will come with built-in 3G mobile broadband as an option, as well as Dolby speakers. The new chassis design will be available in four colors - white, black, gray, and pink.

The standard S10 lineup features that the new netbook has incorporated include three USB ports, and a 4-in-1 card reader. It also features a 10.1-inch LED screen, 1GB RAM, and 160GB storage space. Equipped with a 6-cell battery, the S10-2 netbook promises a notable 6-hour battery life.

Scheduled to hit the worldwide markets towards the end of May, the S10-2 netbook from Lenovo - the fourth-ranking netbook vendor, as per IDC data, following Acer, Asus and Hewlett-Packard - would cost $349. (Via TopNews. Contributed by Jimmy Peterson)
