Fully encompassing the potent idea of third-party add-ons, Fennec - Mozilla's mobile edition of its Firefox browser - has marked its arrival on the Windows Mobile 6 platform! The browser has been through alpha and beta modes on two Maemo-run, Linux-based Nokia Internet Tablets.

For the present, the only Windows Mobile model for which Mozilla has launched the Fennec Alpha 1 only for the Sprint HTC Touch Pro, for which the browser has been custom-made. Fennec Alpha 1 can be downloaded via the 9.1MB CAB file.

The flashiest of features Fennec Alpha 1 boasts of its support for add-ons - in addition to a recommended list, it has a tab for searching more extensions. The browser also had the front and center Awesome Bar search field; and Firefox's Gecko engine.

In addition, the Mountain View, California-based Mozilla has built the Windows Mobile-specific Fennec's interface using CSS, which would enable the app adjust to several screen sizes and resolutions. This Fennec for Windows 6 also shares Firefox's memory management library, JeMalloc, marking a similarity of the mobile product with Mozilla's desktop offering.

Since the new mobile browser in its early testing stage, bugs and other known issues cannot be ruled out. Mozilla has already talked of finding a solution to the problem of delays in panning speeds; and clean-ups in JavaScript processing and graphics!
