Patrick Swayze, 56, star of ‘Dirty Dancing’ and ‘Ghost’ is reportedly suffering from pancreatic cancer, but denies Tuesday’s tabloid reports, claiming he is close to dying.
In a statement from his home, where the actor is celebrating the holidays with his family after finishing work on ‘The Beast’, his new TV series, Swayze said the consistent lies and false information put out by the press are a constant thorn in his side and according to him ‘downright emotional cruelty’. Media reports about his being on deathbed is not true, and while pancreatic cancer is an aggressive disease, he is still fighting the good fight and winning the battle, one of the lucky few to respond well to treatment.
Swayze’s doctors maintain chemotherapy treatment is proving effective, since he has a very limited exposure to disease. On his part, Swayze says chemotherapy is ‘hell on wheels’, however, he will remain positive despite statistics saying he is ‘a dead man’.
Texas-born Swayze has starred in dozens of film, TV and stage roles, yet, he is best known for his role as dance instructor Johnny Castle in the 1987 film ‘Dirty Dancing’. We wish him good luck and good health, while looking forward to some more ‘Dirty Dancing’ from him.
