Circuit City re-opens online store; return policy ‘suspect’
Circuit City

CircuitCity. com is the new online store that Circuit City has re-opened, after announcing the official closure of all its US stores on March 8! Circuit City's new online site is being run by Systemax, which has bought Circuit City's brand, trademark, website, customer records and other assets.

With privacy issues surrounding customer record, Systemax has offered the earlier buyers the 'opt-out' option on the CircuitCity. com Opt-Out Page, so that their personal information is not transferred to the 'new' Circuit City!

According to the Consumerist, with its newly re-launched online services, Circuit City - under the new ownership - has assured broader range of selections, economical prices, speedier shipping, and 24/7 customer service. But, with a slight hitch - its somewhat 'suspect' return policy!

The rather strict return policy says that the site, by and large, reserves the right to turn down all returns. In case it does agree to take back a product, "such returns will be for store credit or refund at CircuitCity. com's sole discretion." Furthermore, some products that would not be accepted at all, whatever be the reason for return, include products from Compaq, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Toshiba, and Epson, among a few others.

Such a stern new return policy would actually make buyers a wee bit hesitant before placing an order on the Circuit City online store!
