Prime Therapeutics enters pact with Excellus BlueCross BlueShield

Prime Therapeutics, a pharmacy benefits solutions company, has entered into an agreement with Rochester, N.Y.-based Excellus BlueCross BlueShield to provide pharmacy mail service to about 1.2 million health plan members.

The service would be provided through Prime Therapeutics’ mail-service pharmacy, starting Jan. 1. The company expects to process approximately 500,000 mail scripts for Excellus BCBS members in 2009.

However, the company did not disclosed the financial terms of the deal.

Prime Therapeutics is collectively owned by 10 Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, subsidiaries or affiliates of those plans.
