Washington - Anna Wintour, British-born editor of high-style tattler Vogue magazine and template for the fire-breathing bully in "The Devil Wears Prada," has come out of her social shell recently to be seen "everywhere" lately, the New York Post reported Thursday.
Some reports chalked the appearances of the normally press-shy editor to her campaign with US President Barack Obama for the post of ambassador to her home country. The White House end that speculation by nominating businessman Louis Susman for the Court of St James on Wednesday.
Wintour, 59, has been editor of the Conde Nast publication since 1988 but may be nervous about its financial health.
An insider told the Post: "Conde Nast is a sinking ship. ... She's a smart woman and is looking to forge the next phase in her career." (dpa)
