Video-streaming site Hulu has introduced a downloadable desktop version of its video Web site, for Windows and Mac. Hulu Desktop, which blurs the fine line between a computer and a TV, is a new application in Hulu’s Labs – which is the site’s new beta section that would give a peak into all forthcoming Hulu material.
Controlled via the mouse, keyboard, or any six-button PC or Mac remote control, the Hulu Desktop offering provides access to Hulu content for a “rich, full-screen” video watching experience.
Talking about the new application in its blog post, Hulu said that it is “a new PC and Mac application that gives users the option to step outside of their browser, keyboard and mouse and into something different,” making it easier for users to “immerse themselves in the great shows and movies Hulu is fortunate to have access to.”
In order to get the desktop client run properly, both Windows and Mac users should have at least a 2 Mbps Internet connection and an obligatory Flash 9.0.124. In addition, Windows users need to have an Intel Pentium Core Duo, with a 1.8GHz processor and 2GB of RAM running Windows XP, while Mac users should have an Intel Pentium Core Duo, with a 2.0GHz processor and 2GB of RAM running OS X 10.4.
