Samsung launches its first touchscreen, 12-megapixel cameraphone – Pixon12

The Pixon12, Samsung’s first touchscreen phone with a 3.1-inch screen and a 12-megapixel camera, was launched by the company on Monday. The new Samsung offering, which treads the Sony Ericsson Satio path, will hit the market before its competitor, with its shipping in some parts of Europe commencing as early as June-end.

Also being portrayed as a mobile browser, the Pixon12 has been designed with great focus on the speed aspect, with the company saying that the phone will enable users to capture and upload pictures swiftly and with ease. Moreover, the phone not only allows users to organize and manage photos by file names, tags, ratings and time using the touch-screen, but also facilitates bringing up photos in groups.

With measurements of 108x53x13.8mm, the Pixon12 is deeper, though comparatively smaller than most of its rivals including the extremely popular Apple iPhone. The connectivity of the phone includes GRPS, Edge and HSUPA; and it boasts of an FM radio and GPS mapping.

Talking about the new offering, Samsung Electronics’ head of mobile communication division, J K Shin said: “Speedy access to the camera mode, fast shutter speed and quick browsing are some of the key factors consumers are looking for in their mobile phone cameras. We are very pleased to introduce the world's first 12-megapixel cameraphone that holds the answer to these pressing needs.”
