Offering competition to the Nintendo Wii motion-controller and the newly-released Microsoft hands-free "Project Natal," Sony unveiled its Playstation Motion Control, along with the long-talked-about PSPgo, at the E3 press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday!
Sony's Playstation Motion Control is essentially a wireless wand with a color-changing orb, which can be tracked by the EyeToy camera of its popular PlayStation 3 gaming console. Equipped with an analog trigger, the wand boasts of a remarkable one-to-one mapping that apparently has the potential to outshine the Wii's forthcoming MotionPlus peripheral.
Meanwhile, the other Sony product, the $249-priced PSPgo is a new PlayStation 'Portable' system with a smaller form factor. Scheduled for release in North America, Europe and Asia in October, the PSpgo has been designed particularly with those users in mind who are interested in downloading games and videos.
Highly competitive with the iPhone, the PSPgo, which measures 5.04 x 0.65 x 2.72 inches and weighs 5.6 ounces, has the regular 16:9 aspect ratio TFT display measuring 3.8 inches and 480 x 272 pixels. Similar to a smartphone, though sans the touchscreen, the device slides upward to expose control surfaces.
With a built-in 802.11b Wi-Fi; support for Bluetooth 2.0 wireless peripherals; and 16GB of built-in flash memory, which is expandable, the PSPgo can also be attached to a television or home entertainment system for watching videos stored in the unit!
