“Sims 3” – EA’s latest chartbuster game with 1.4 million first-week sales

According to a recent announcement by the publisher of the popular video game franchise "The Sims", Electronic Arts Inc (EA), "Sims 3" is the latest EA chartbuster game - with more than 1.4 million PC and Mac sales in the first week of its launch!

The company said that the aforesaid first-week sales figures of the June 2 released "Sims 3" make it the best-selling PC game launch in the EA history. Last year, EA had announced the original "Sims" had gone past the 100-million sales mark since its year-2000 launch, thereby making it the world's best-selling computer game.

The third episode of EA's popular life-simulating game features an exclusive moviemaking tool, supported by additional ways to tailor the personalities of the virtual townsfolk that are a part and parcel of the game. The smash-hit third installment of the game has been developed by EA's 'Sims team' - in consultation with "The Sims" designer Will Wright - at its Redwood Shores headquarters.

Commenting on the record-shattering first-week sales of the game, which is a noteworthy mechanical evolution for the "Sims" franchise, EA said in a statement: "We feel like this is a good, time-proven solution that makes it easy for you to play the game without DRM methods that feel overly invasive or leave you concerned about authorization server access in the distant future."
