Broadband2Go - that's the new prepaid mobile Internet system announced by Virgin Mobile USA! Bringing for comparatively 'light' users an array of low-priced plans, Broadband2Go runs on Sprint's 3G network, allowing users to pay for laptop Internet connectivity as per their use, instead of a specific monthly subscription.
The newly-announced mobile broadband offering from Virgin gives Windows XP or Vista PCs download speeds approximately one megabit. Virgin will be selling hordes of megabytes on its prepaid cards; working in a way similar to the prepaid phone top-up cards.
Virgin's new pay-as-you-go wireless system, which is equipped with the Novatel MC760 modem and a small USB device, has the company offering its data usage packages in increments of $10, $20, $40 or $60.
However, though a pre-condition is attached with these cards, pertaining to the time-limit for which the usage amount is valid, the Broadband2Go offering can be considered a rather worthwhile deal, even for the not-so-frequent Internet users.
The system works in such a way that users who do not use the network for some time at a stretch, do not need to pay anything at all; and, in case a user over-steps the charging cards limit, the Web browser gets redirected to a page which the user to buy more megabytes - implying that there is no overage charged automatically, without the user's knowledge!
