Hollywood Walk of Fame names 28 stars for 2010 honours

Los Angeles  - The Hollywood Walk of Fame is to give a coveted star on its sidewalk to 28 stars of film, television and music, it announced Thursday.

Earl Lestz, chairman of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, said a committee had picked the 28 stars from more than 200 nominations.

The cinema stars on the list include Adam Sandler, Russell Crowe, John Cusack, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson and Mark Wahlberg, director James Cameron and film composers Alan Menken and Randy Newman.

For the TV category, the recipients are Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Cryer, Sam Waterston, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bill Maher, Peter Graves and sportscaster Chris Berman.

In music, the list includes Ringo Starr, Chaka Khan, Van Morrison, the late Roy Orbison, country star Alan Jackson, rock band ZZ Top, the Funk Brothers, Bryan Adams and Marco Antonio Soli.

Andrea Bocelli and Guy Laliberte will represent the theatre and live performance category.

Dates for the ceremonies have not been scheduled yet. (dpa)
