The myTouch 3G phone - that's yet another Google Android device from T-Mobile, scheduled to hit the markets in August! However, the existing T-Mobile users can lay their hands on the new device as early as July 8!
The Monday announcement of the new smartphone - T-Mobile's second device with Google's Android operating software - will further heat up the brewing competition in the smartphone arena, more so with the lately launched Palm Pre and Apple's newest iPhone!
According to T-Mobile - a Deutsche Telekom unit, claiming to have sold more than 1 million devices - the myTouch 3 G, like its predecessor G1, is also made by Taiwan's HTC Corp and is based on Android technology. However, it is a slimmer, light-weight and a more sophisticated version of the G1.
About some of the other specs of the new phone, T-Mobile said that it features a touch-screen display; and a 3.2-megapixel camera; a music player; and video capabilities facilitate the sharing of pictures and videos on sites such as YouTube and Picasa. Boasting a longer battery life, the myTouch will be available in three colors - white, black and wine red.
The $199 cost - after a rebate for a two-year service contract - of the myTouch 3 G phone is at par with the 16-gigabyte model of the Apple iPhone 3GS and the Palm Pre.
