At one of its recent press conferences, Sony disclosed some of the details of its newest, Blu-ray equipped 15-inch laptop - the Vaio NW series. The "gracefully thin" - at 1.2-inches thickness, the laptop is rather slim for a mainstream model - laptop, which is reasonably-priced at $880 for the base model NW180J/S, will hit the store by the end of June!
The specs of the soon-to-come laptop include the 15-inch widescreen-characteristic 16:9 display, with 1,366 x 768 resolution; a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P7350; a 400GB 5,400rpm hard drive; 4GB of DDR2 RAM; 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi; and a 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4570 graphics card.
In addition, the Vaio NW, which has Windows Vista as its operating system, features 1.3MP webcam; an HDMI port; 3x USB ports; a microSD card slot; an ExpressCard port; a memory stick PROTM slot; and Bluetooth.
Boasting a textured chassis with a wavy finish, EnergyStar 5.0 amenable - with the packaging of the new laptop series made of 98 percent recycled, as per Sony claims - Vaio NW will be available in three colors, namely walnut brown, birch white, and rattan silver. The laptop will feature a power-saving "display off' button, to easily turn the screen off when it is not required!
