On Monday, Hewlett-Packard introduced an inkjet printer HP Photosmart Premium, which is equipped with TouchSmart Web to facilitate the printing of the documents from the Internet without a PC. The new internet-connected inkjet printer, to be released later this year, will be priced at US$399.
With a 4.33-inch touch screen for navigating to different sites, the printer connects directly to the Internet via a wired or Wi-Fi connection.
The new HP printer will allow users to browse Web-based content and print coupons, movie tickets, puzzles, recipes and other articles from the Web. The web-content accessing software of the printer has been contributed by HP partners - Google, USA Today, Fandango, Coupons.com, Web Sudoku, DreamWorks Animation, Weathernews, and Nickelodeon.
In addition to the direct printouts from the internet, HP Photosmart Premium will also allow users to print or upload photos straight to HP's Snapfish photo-sharing and printing service. It further supports Bluetooth for direct printouts from devices like digital cameras.
About the web-connected printer, Vyomesh Joshi - HP's Executive VP of the Imaging and Printing Group - said: "By giving people access to the content they want at the touch of a finger, the ability to customize their printing experience and create their own apps, and enabling easy one-touch wireless setup, we are driving a significant shift in how people will be printing in the future."
