Less than pleased over her daughter's elopement with Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag's mother says it's the biggest mistake Heidi has made and says she gives the marriage only six months, before going kaput.
It's obvious that Darlene Egelhoff is no fan of her daughter's significant better half, Spencer Pratt. She finds him manipulative, wanting to possess Heidi and with undue power over her, adding she wouldn't be surprised if the blood test in Mexico showed, he had drugged Heidi. Upset over her daughter's quiet marriage to Pratt, she was doubly more so when Heidi decided to spend Thanksgiving honeymooning with Spencer, rather then go home to visit the family. Darlene insists that till Spencer came into her daughter's life, Heidi, with whom she is extremely close, did not act that way.
There may be some good news for Egelhoff, as a report came out recenty that Montag and Pratt were unable to get a marriage license before their wedding ceremony took place at the One & Only Palmilla Resort near Cabo San Lucas. This means, according to Mexican laws, their marriage is not legally recognized in Mexico. However, Pratt says all legal details will be taken care of once the couple get back to the United States.
But, Pratt may be in for a surprise as Los Angeles County, where Heidi and he reside, does not acknowledge marriage ceremonies taking place outside the U. S. without that country's government giving some form of legal acknowledgement. According to L. A. County records supervisor Maricela Najera, their marriage won't be recognized even in the States and the two would need to go to court for the necessary recognition, failing which they will have tie the knot all over again.
The couple, Montag, 22, and Pratt, 25, have been accused of faking things from plastic surgery, photo opportunities, reality TV et al, yet, Pratt insists they are very happy and their marriage the real deal.
