The Mini 5101 is the new updated netbook introduced by Hewlett-Packard Co, presumably in an attempt to further fortify its top-spot in the business-oriented netbook arena. The netbook will likely hit the markets in late July,
the HP Mini 5101 is the fourth business netbook released by HP in less than one-and-a-half years - the earlier three being Mini 2133, Mini 2140; and Mini 1101.
Describing some of the new features of the revamped Mini 5101 priced $449, Carol Hess-Nickels - HP's director of marketing for business netbooks - said that the netbook will have a comparatively swifter Intel Atom processor, the Atom N280, which runs at 1.66 GHz, in place of the 1.6 GHz N270 of the Mini 2140; a new security feature; and a high-quality black brushed aluminum case.
Fitted with a brighter 10.1-inch OLED screen with 1024x600 or 1366x768 resolutions, the Mini 5101 features 2-megapixel Webcam; and a spill-resistant, bigger keyboard - 95 percent of full-laptop-keyboard-size - with flat, open key arrangement that looks and feels like MacBook.
Some of the features of the Mini 5101 will be the ones found in the 2140 model too - including its 2.6-pound weight; the option of Windows Vista, XP Home or Professional, Suse Linux Enterprise 11 or FreeDOS operating systems; HDDa or SDDs with 3D DriveGuard; and the alternative of fast-charging 4-cell or 6-cell Lithium-ion batteries.
