LinkedIn, Social networking website, named former Yahoo manager Jeff Weiner as its chief executive officer and a member of board, replacing co-founder, chairman and CEO Reid Hoffman.
Jeff Weiner had joined LinkedIn as interim president in January. He joined Accel Partners and Greylock Partners as executive in residence last year. That position is a common way in to a CEO spot.
On the other hand, co-founder Reid Hoffman will shoulder the responsibility of executive chairman of the company, whose website focuses on professional networking and career-building.
LinkedIn also unveiled that it expects to be as profitable in 2009 as it was in 2008. The company further revealed that its number of global members recently exceeded 42 million.
It is worth mentioning here that LinkedIn has lifted more than $100 million in funding from supporters such as Sequoia Capital, Greylock Partners and Goldman Sachs.
LinkedIn said that Jeff Weiner has overseen all operations and played a key role in developing the company's global growth plans.
