Ofcom Says 9 Out Of 10 UK Homes Completely Digital

As per government regulator, Ofcom’s fresh figures as much as ninety percent of U.K. households have gone digital.

As the country is getting ready for the 2012 digital switchover, Ofcom said, "The total number of digital households reached 89.2% with digital switchover now underway in the West Country, Border and Isle of Man."

People are opting “Digital Video Recorders” to stay abreast with their favorite shows.

Digital broadcast is being received by more than 3 out of every 5 secondary TVs, which reveals an increase of 8 percent as compared to the Q1 of 2008.

According to Ofcom in totality the number of households with a Freeview device had reached 18.0 million.

But a point to be noted here is that millions of old television sets will have to be fitted with the proper digital box, as approximately 27 percent of television sets in Britain were using analogue technology by the end of March 2009.
