Universal chargers to come as Early as 2010

Next year you will not have to dash here and there in search of a "compatible" charger as the world's biggest mobile phone makers, viz. Apple, Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, RIM etc. has publicized that they agreed to a universal standard phone charger that will work on numerous handsets made by different companies.

The new handsets will be introduced with a standard phone charger based on the micro-USB connector, which will allow you to use one charger across handsets made by different companies.

Though in the beginning years the universal chargers will only be compatible with European phones, yet there are hopes that the rest of the world would eventually follow its lead.

The main objective behind the move is to reduce the number of useless chargers, which will add to the convenience of the customers.

On the one hand, the current development will assist manufacturers by trimming down the materials required to manufacture chargers and on the other, it will also bring down the rate of waste material, which pollutes the environment.
