Comcast corp. has announced that it will launch its high-speed 3G and 4G mobile broadband service.
As per Comcast's claims the new service, named Comcast High-Speed 2go, will present the fastest wireless internet in Portland with speeds of up to 4Mbps.
Speaking on the topic, Cathy Avgiris, a senior Comcast VP, said, "With the launch of High-Speed 2go, we also deliver the nation's fastest wireless Internet."
Comcast's Fast Pack Metro package is available for $49.99 a month. Fast Pack Metro service includes Comcast's 12 Mbps home Internet service, a free Wi-Fi router.
However, existing Comcast customers may be able to sign up for the new service for just $30 a month.
At present, a combination service of home Internet and a PC card is being offered by Clearwire for $70 a month.
Verizon Wireless is offering 3G wireless Internet with speeds ranging from 600kbps to1.4Mpbs for $59.95 a month.
As informed, 4G service is provided by the Clearwire network, whereas Sprint's nationwide 3G grid is providing Comcast's 3G service.
Any way, Comcast's current move is a win-win situation for customers.
