Oakland's City Council resorted to cut on concessions and services as well as fee-hike in order to get rid of $83 million general fund budget deficit.
Police Department will also have to bear the heat as the council members slashed $13.4 million out Police Department's personnel budget.
Now the branch libraries will open for 5 days a week rather than six; Mayor's staff will be slashed by 20 %; council offices' spending will also be slashed by 20 %;
Ten percent pay cuts for elected officials is also proposed.
Oakland's City Council has spared none, as it suggested increased fee for Meter rates, parking ticket and sports clubs.
After Desley Brooks' voting no, the council vote was 7 to 1.
But, according to many, horse-trading played a vital role in getting in getting such a wide support.
Oakland's voters will entertain their power through a special vote-by-mail election on July 21.
