Two of the Net's best-known bloggers - Peter Rojas and Ryan Block - have launched a new social site, GDGT, especially catering to the 'special needs' of the so-called gadget maniacs!

The GDGT site is essentially a well-structured wikipedia pertaining to tech gadgets; and provides the die-hard gadget-lovers a common platform to come together for the purpose of obsessing over the tech marvels. The site is so structured that it allows any of the users to edit any information on the site, thereby resulting in a lot of cutting and chopping of the data.

Instead of just being yet another site for tech news, GDGT is so-designed that it easily allows readers to contribute content, and hence become the micro-stars on the site. Over and above the human-generated content, the site also has computerized comparison widgets, gadget finders, and product pages.

GDGT not only gives exhaustive details regarding the specifications of each gadget, it also groups the various products into logical categories. The already more than a dozen categories and thousands of products in GDGT will, before long, have newer from the gadget-loving users!

Though GDGT has not disclosed much about the requisite funding for the site, it is believed that nearly half a million dollars have been raised by the founders in an angel round led by True Ventures and Betaworks, with participation form some angel investors.
