Apple, the iPhone-maker, filed a patent application for developing technology that would present non-visual feedback when a person touches the screen of a laptop, smartphone, or other electronic device.
The application filed with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office says such a technology could resolve a big issue regarding iPhone's virtual keyboard's lacking in any non-visual response.
According to the patent application, the new technology would also be helpful for sliding a finger across a trackpad, scrolling around virtual click wheels and touching a multi-touch display screen.
The new technology's non-visual cues would prove very useful for those who are visually impaired or are using their electronics in the dark. The technology would also be useful when user's attention is sidetracked.
Likewise, two other patent applications, one for technology use of biometrics to spot fingerprints and the other for a radio-frequency recognition reader, have been submitted by Apple.
Fingerprint identification technology is not new but Apple claims that its approach is different.
