Apple: iphones may not operate in extreme temperatures

Hot things are really hot. After dilly-dallying over the iPhone 3G or 3GS overheating issue, Apple has finally admitted that an Iphone 3G or 3GS can operate only where the temperature is between zero and 35 degrees Celsius.

Apple on its website, has urged customers to use the iPhone 3GS "in a place where the temperature is between 0°C and 35°C".

Extreme temperatures can affect phones' battery life adversely.

Earlier, a lot of iPhone 3GS owners had complained about scorch marks on the phone's rear plastic panel, which was allegedly due to overheating.

Apple further added if the interior temperature of the device exceeds normal operating temperatures then both iPhone 3G and 3GS may stop charging, suffer dimmed displays or weakened network signals. The company advises not to leave the device in a sealed car on a hot day.

Direct sunlight for a long time can also impinge on iPhones' operations. So Apple has passed the buck to hot weather.
