Codex Sinaiticus, World’s Oldest Christian Bible, has been digitized and made available online, after being housed in four separate locations for over 150 years.

Online Bible would provide scholars with a new opportunity to study more about centuries-old manuscript.

Codex Sinaiticus, which was written, more than 1600 years ago in the fourth century, is remained just half with a collection of 800 pages and fragments.

Codex Sinaiticus was written in Greek on leaves prepared from animal skin.

The pages that have survived contain a complete New Testament but parts of the Old Testament and the Apocrypha have lost over time.

Groups from Britain, Germany, Russia and Egypt took part in a joint project to reunite sections of the book held by these countries. They worked jointly to publish new research into the history of the Codex and wrote out 650,000 words.

According to Juan Garces, the Codex Sinaiticus project manager, digitizing the book was a "definitely a historical moment."

Researchers at the British Library claimed that Codex Sinaiticus was handwritten by four scribes. Earlier, it was believed that there were only three who contributed in writing the book.

Now world’s oldest Christian Bible is available online for free.
