Joining the likes of LG and Vizio, which already have LED backlighting in their latest HDTV sets, the electronics maker Sharp has also marked its foray into the LED sets arena by unveiling its first LED sets from its Aquos series of LCD HDTVs.
Sharp's new Aquos line of LCD HDTVs is essentially an extension of its current Aquos LCD technology, which the company has coupled with energy-saving full-array LED backlighting for improved image quality. In addition, the Aquos LED series introduces a new service, Aquos Net, via which owners of the new sets can tap into Web-based content, along with establishing direct contact with Sharp customer service.
Sharp new Aquos line of LED sets, all supporting 1080p HD, would be available in fours sizes - the 32-inch LC-32LE700UN; 40-inch LC-40LE700UN; 46-inch LC-46LE700UN; and 52-inch LC-52LE700UN; which will respectively be priced at $1,099.99; $1,699.99; $2,199.99; and $2,799.99. All but LC-32LE700UN will be equipped with Aquos Net.
Talking about Sharp's new Aquos line, Senior VP Bob Scaglione said: "With the introduction of the AQUOS LED Series, we are bringing consumers an affordable display solution with superior picture and environmental performance that provides a true value. Sharp is able to deliver a price-competitive yet high-performance product by producing many of the key components of the TV, including the LED components and the LCD panel."
