Smartronix bags $9.5 million contract for redesigning Recovery.gov

With a view to make the act of spending $797 billion to stimulate the recessed economy, transparent, the White House has started Recovery.gov; a Web site to let people know where their hard earned money is going.

Smartronix, which has recently witnessed its name among the fastest growing solution providers on the 2009 VARBusiness 500 list, has bagged a $9.5 million contract through the General Services Administration for administering and implementing the redesign of Recovery.gov.

James A. Williams, Commissioner of the GSA's Federal Acquisition Service said that the concerned site would use innovative and interactive tools to help taxpayers to know where their money was being spent.

Commissioner James A. Williams further said, "Armed with easy access to this information, taxpayers can make government more accountable for its decisions."

Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board has carved a deadline of mid-October for Smartronix, which is the first one to be awarded the contract under General Services Administration Alliant.

It may be noted here that fifty nine companies were in the race for the Recovery.gov award.
