Eric Schmidt, Google's CEO said that he would talk to Apple about his role on the board of directors at Apple, in wake of Google's announcement that it will get into the operating system business.
News of Google's operating system made some bloggers to ask for Schmidt's resignation from the Apple board.
The U. S. Federal Trade Commission is scrutinizing if the close ties between the companies' boards are not violating antitrust law.
Eric Schmidt's involvement with Apple has already raised the hackles of federal trade commission. Antitrust law bars executives from serving on the boards of the rival companies in case it reduces competition between the companies.
It is informed that Schmidt rescues himself when the board discusses Apple's iPhone. Now Schmidt may have to excuse himself when the board discusses Macintosh computers and software.
Apple shares have soared 150 percent since 2006, when Schmidt joined the board.
Even though, according to critics it is the time for Schmidt to take more drastic action, yet Schmidt has said he has no plans to quit Apple's board.
