Makers of the PocketSurfer internet access terminal, Datawind has come up with his netbook named UbiSurfer.
Datawind has tied a price tag worth £159 to the device, which comes with 30 hours a month of web access for the first year.
The company will use the services of Maplin and the Ideal TV home shopping channel for putting UbiSurfer on sale.
UbiSurfer is equipped with 1GB of RAM and 1GB of flash memory. The device's 7" widescreen display possesses an 800x490-pixel resolution. GPRS, Wi-Fi and LAN are the connecting services in the device. UbiSurfer has the ability to automatically switch between connection modes.
UbiSurfer, which weighs 700g, is also equipped with a built-in microphone, a pair of built-in speakers plus a headphone socket.
However, the Linux-based netbook lacks DVD drive. As far netbook's dimentions are concerned it is 222mm wide, 165mm deep and 30mm high.
A vertical panel on the left-hand side of the device helps the user to know how much of 30 hours of web connectivity have been used.
Apart from games and a paint program, UbiSurfer is preloaded with many other applications like Microsoft Office-compatible word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications, a PDF viewer, a media player, an email client and a web browser.
